12th Planet is the electronic music pioneer whose off-axis beats and subsonic frequencies orbit on the forefront of global bass culture. Recently named “Los Angeles dubstep god” by Rolling Stone, 12th Planet AKA John Dadzie and his influential label SMOG Records are widely credited for bringing the British movement stateside, and continue to be a crucial force in the evolution of electronic music. 12th Planet's DJ sets now include a myriad of styles that reflect the current, diverse landscape of EDM music and continue to display his role as an essential tastemaker in the dance music world.
Max Hype is Protohype. Originating in the hip hop world, 22 year old Protohype's fusion with bass music has created a new genre, Dub Hop. Combining the gritty low end of dubstep with trunk rattling hip hop drums, a sound is born like nothing else. His progressive sound has lead him to new heights in both the bass music community and the hip hop world. His massive collection of free music floating through the interweb has gained him respect not only from other DJ's, but from fans across the country. Be on the lookout for Protohype, coming to crush a city near you.
As a vanguard of forward thinking bass music, Antiserum continuously defines the sound of today. Spawned in a laboratory of collaborations with heavy hitters such as LA dubplate warrior 12th Planet, he has found himself continuously at the forefront of bass music’s list key players. His releases on Smog Records and Caspa’s Dub Police label have established him as a mainstay of sub-heavy music.
From his roots in the drum and bass movement, to the formation of his label Hollowpoint Records in 2009, and now with the emergence of his trademark forward-thinking “Balearic Bass” sound, SMOG Records artist SPL stands poised to continue striking blows into the hearts and minds of electronic dance music veterans and initiates alike.
A welcome face to dance floors all over California, Steady is a solid contributor to West Coast dubstep whose productions and performances passionately promote the sound. After playing drum and bass for almost a decade, Steady caught the dubstep contagion and was soon inducted into the SMOG family with the rest of the beat freaks. Along with fellow DJ and producer Kelly Dean, Steady now hosts a radio show “PLATFORM” on DubstepFM every second Saturday of the month from 1-3PM, where he showcases exclusive new material by artists both local and from around the world.
